One year ago today... the day it all changed. It was a Tuesday. I got the call from Matt around 3:00. I remember I was sitting at the computer at home. Matt told me that he was at the hospital, and that Bob Scott, his boss, had driven him there. Then he said those 4 words I never expected to hear: “The tumor came back.” My heart stopped. Matt had gone in that morning for an MRI, as he has done numerous times in the past 10 years. He was now at the point where he had an MRI just yearly now, and that one was done in February, which showed that everything was fine. There was no sign of tumor growth, which had been the case for the last 10 years, praise God. But because Matt had been having some seizure activity for the last few months, they suggested he go in for another MRI in July. We then decided we should move up the appointment, because he had been having a headache every day for the past week. Good thing we did.... After I hung up with Matt, I immediately brok...
Hi Lindsay,
ReplyDeleteI have a question and didn't know where else to post it. I have a question about increasing muscle mass. I was just told that basically after your first year of lifting heavy, it becomes hard to put on any muscle mass unless you incorporate cut/bulk cycles. What are your thoughts on and experiences with cut/bulk cycles? Do you believe that they are a necessary ingredient in strength training, or does it depend on your personal goals? Thank you!
BTW, love this quote! :)
I've never really been into the cutting/bulking thing...but that is just me. I don't really believe that women should "bulk", as in gain a lot of fat while trying to gain muscle.
DeleteI do believe, however, that in order to build muscle that you DO need to take in slightly more calories than you burn and get a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.
So you may not be able to stay super lean while trying to gain muscle, but it shouldn't be an excuse to gain 20lbs of fat or eat whatever you want.
So basically, I do think you should go through phases where you eat a little more in order to gain muscle, then decrease calories a bit when trying to lean out, because it's very hard trying to do both at the same time.
Hope that made sense and answered your question!
I really like that song- it reminds me of all things ungodly to just get rid of. Another song that recently stood out to me is "Lose My Soul" by Toby Mac.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great song also! It is good to be reminded daily of what really matters in life!
