The Story Of US

The Story Of "Us"...

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We've been together since October of 2003, so over 9 years!

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We met after one of my husband's wrestling shows. I knew who he was from Tough Enough(the MTV reality show he had won)and had been watching him wrestle for the few weeks that I had been going to the shows with my friend.

I came to learn that he was a Christian and was like, "Oh my gosh, I have to meet this guy!" My friend (unbeknownst to me) went up to him after one of the shows like the crazy fan he was and showed Matt a picture of me he and pointed me out in the parking lot.

Sooo... the next thing I know, Matt is yelling, "Lindsay!" across the parking lot, and I'm doing my best to pretend I didn't hear him because I was SO embarrassed! Well, much to my mortification, he walked right up over to me and introduced himself and shook my hand. He told me to stick around after the next show...which I actually didn't because I didn't want him to think I was one of those "groupie"/fan girls!

So anyway, my sister started dating one of the wrestlers around that time and a few weeks later we ended up all going out to eat together after one of the shows, Matt and I exchanged numbers...and the rest is history!

3. If married, how long have you been married?
We've been married for 7 amazing years(In March)!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We ran off and eloped to Maui to get married without telling anyone! It was just us two, the minister, and the photographer. I never wanted a big, fancy wedding, so it was perfect to me!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
I have no clue how this got started, but we call each other "lover" or sometimes(it sounds so ridiculous!)"lover pie"!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
Well...I love that he is so creative and can fix anything.
I love that he makes me laugh all the time!
I love that he is so sensitive and that he cries at movies and sappy commercials!
Most of all, what I love about him is his love for Christ. (Well, that was 4 things, but oh well!)

7. Tell us how he proposed?
Well, he actually proposed to me on Valentine's day! He had just bought a condo that he told me he was going to rent out...well, it turned out that he had actually bought it for the two of us to move into together! He took me there to show it to me on Valentine's day, and when we got to the upstairs bedroom he told me to look in the closet. There were candles and a big sign that said, "Happy Valentine's Day". When I turned around, he was on one knee with a ring in his hand! It was funny because I'm not the type of person to show lots of outward emotion, so I was like, "You nerd! Let me see that!" and just grabbed the ring out of his hand and put it on! I don't think I was thinking straight! He was like, "Is that yes?"

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
More of a flowers and teddy bear guy...We don't really make a huge deal out of Valentine's day. I tell him every year that ALL I want is a box of chocolates! He shows me in so many ways every day how much he loves me, so I don't need anything extravagant!

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Oooh, I would love both!!!  The beach is my favorite place in the world...unfortunately, we don't have one near by. I would say that I am definitely more of a relax on the couch and watch a movie girl than a go out to a fancy dinner girl for sure!

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Wow, that's a hard one because there are lots of places I'd love to go! One place I've been wanting to go to is the Grand Canyon... and I've always wanted to go on a Safari! But really, I think if I could choose to go anywhere in the whole entire world, it would be to a beautiful, remote, tropical island somewhere!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
Well, since Valentine's Day is on a Thursday this year we aren't really doing anything special that day, but we're going out to dinner for our Valentine's date on Saturday!

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
Like I said, all I want is a box of chocolates!! Doesn't take much to make me happy. :)

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Hmmm...well, I would say a few things:
Number one: Pray together daily! Keep God the center of your marriage.
Never be afraid to admit when you're wrong and apologize.
Make each other's happiness more important than your own.
Kiss and say I love you every morning, before bed and always before you leave the house! And lots in between! ;)

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

People always said That time would heal the pain But how can that be When mine still remains? The tears still fall At just the thought of you So I know that what they say Just can't be true As the years go by I miss you so much still  No matter how much time passes I know I always will How are you not here To ease my hurting heart? Never could I have imagined We would ever be apart My world has been shattered A piece of me is gone And all I can do is pray For strength to live on I know that one day soon I will see you again I just have to try to suffer through And make it until then

Putting My Heart Out There

Hey guys. Here's where we're at right now: Matt finished his radiation treatments last week. Did they help? I don't know. He's sleeping a lot more. Having trouble chewing and swallowing. Not eating much. Not talking much, at least not in full sentences. It's just been a slow, steady decline for the last few months. I think it was really too late for radiation....But who knows, maybe it is delaying things. We went in last Tuesday for his infusion and talked with his neuro-oncologist about everything that we've been seeing with Matt, and he decided that we're at the point now where we should discontinue treatments...I feel like it's the right decision, even though it breaks my heart knowing that there is nothing else we can do. But I feel like we've done everything. All the supplements, the diet, the chemo, the radiation... Matt has fought hard. He never gave up hope. He kept the faith. He never complained through any of this. Not once did I hea...

Why?

Why? Why do I care so much?  Why do I make sure they brush their teeth at night so that they don't get cavities? Why do I spend my own money to buy them clothes, toys and decorate their rooms, among other things?  Why do I do 5,000 loads of laundry a week to make sure they have clothes to wear to school? Why do I make sure they go to church on Sundays so that they'll be raised to know about Jesus? Why do I try to give them chores and responsibilities so that they will turn out to be decent human beings? Why do I read them a bedtime story at night, even when I'm exhausted? Why do I clean up after them constantly and cook for them and try to always have healthy snacks and food on hand? Why do I go to their sports games and practices, just to feel like the odd man out standing there awkwardly with their bio mom? Why do I give 100% of myself and make so many sacrifices for children I didn't birth? Only to be insulted and told hurtful things? To be made to feel like I'm ...
