For those who are following along and memorizing Psalm 139 with me, I know it's been awhile, but I haven't forgotten! I actually just had a hard time for some reason memorizing the last portion. Our next section is Psalm 139: 19-24. The last verse is one of my favorites from the Psalms.
If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
A few tips for memorizing scripture:
*Read the passage out loud several times.If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
A few tips for memorizing scripture:
*Think about what the passage means.
*Pray over the meaning and ask God to help you memorize it.
*Repeat the first phrase over and over.
*Add one phrase to what you already know and again repeat it over and over.
*Review it weekly, say it out loud, and emphasize different words each time.
*Apply the verse to your life.
These things really seem to help me, so hopefully they will help you also!
thanks for the tips, Lindsay
