Building BIGGER Legs

I have scrawny legs. I have always hated them for as long as I can remember and still do. Even as a child I remember always being paranoid about them. Okay, so they're a lot better now than they used to be, but I still wish I could get them bigger!

I know, I know, most women would love to have smaller, slimmer legs. But my legs are just a little TOO small! I have a very boyish shape with NO hips whatsoever. I don't really like my body type. I'd love to have more hips, a bigger butt and legs, and a smaller waist. But I don't and never will. If I gain weight, it goes only to my midsection and a little to my arms, but not my legs at all! :( So I have to keep my fat low, or else I will look really unproportional-fat belly with skinny legs! ugh. I would LOVE to be able to put on a little fat and have some "junk in my trunk"! lol. But oh well.

I know I'm just complaining, so I'll stop, but those are just some of my insecurities and things that I don't like about my body! But I can only try to work with what I have and make the best of it!

Anyway, I've been training for years now, and I just wonder if I have reached my genetic limit as far as muscle growth in my legs. I have seen a small change in my legs over the last three years or so, but not nearly to the extent that I want. I definitely see improvement in the muscle definition and the outer quad sweep, but calves are not really changing much(at least that I can see).

I squat heavy(usually anywhere from 135lbs to 175lbs), and I know that squatting like that is probably hard on my little joints! Sometimes my knees hurt, nothing unbearable or anything, but I just don't want to end up with bad knees from squatting heavy. Maybe I should just give up on my goal of getting my legs bigger and just maintain where they are now. I don't know. I really do like squatting heavy, but maybe I just won't do it as often.

I wouldn't mind my legs looking like this, and this is not TOO unrealistic for me, I don't think:
And here is a pic of my legs, which I hate even putting up here! If you notice, I always crop my legs out of pictures!! lol.

  1. You're crazy Lindsay! You have awesome legs!

I do the same thing about my midsection Lindsay, never happy. Now that I'm in my 30's and thinner again, I find I don't worry about it as much as I did when I lost weight after each child. I don't know if it's age or my realizing that Satan LOVES when I am not content. He loves distracting me from my relationship with the Lord and he knows how to do it.

You look wonderful! Every time you feel less than wonderful about your body you tell Satan he can try that trick on someone else because it's not going to work on you anymore! Thanks for sharing your struggle : )

  2. I agree...you are crazy! And your legs are awesome.

I do like the other girls legs as well. She looks great. I like thick legs. I love Diana Chaloux's legs.

I dont think I could ever give up squatting. I love it! Maybe hack squats would be easier on your joints???? Or you could use less weight and do front squats so most of the weight is on the quads. ??? Just a few thoughts.

How often do you train legs?

Putting My Heart Out There

Hey guys. Here's where we're at right now: Matt finished his radiation treatments last week. Did they help? I don't know. He's sleeping a lot more. Having trouble chewing and swallowing. Not eating much. Not talking much, at least not in full sentences. It's just been a slow, steady decline for the last few months. I think it was really too late for radiation....But who knows, maybe it is delaying things. We went in last Tuesday for his infusion and talked with his neuro-oncologist about everything that we've been seeing with Matt, and he decided that we're at the point now where we should discontinue treatments...I feel like it's the right decision, even though it breaks my heart knowing that there is nothing else we can do. But I feel like we've done everything. All the supplements, the diet, the chemo, the radiation... Matt has fought hard. He never gave up hope. He kept the faith. He never complained through any of this. Not once did I hea
People always said That time would heal the pain But how can that be When mine still remains? The tears still fall At just the thought of you So I know that what they say Just can't be true As the years go by I miss you so much still  No matter how much time passes I know I always will How are you not here To ease my hurting heart? Never could I have imagined We would ever be apart My world has been shattered A piece of me is gone And all I can do is pray For strength to live on I know that one day soon I will see you again I just have to try to suffer through And make it until then

Why?

Why? Why do I care so much?  Why do I make sure they brush their teeth at night so that they don't get cavities? Why do I spend my own money to buy them clothes, toys and decorate their rooms, among other things?  Why do I do 5,000 loads of laundry a week to make sure they have clothes to wear to school? Why do I make sure they go to church on Sundays so that they'll be raised to know about Jesus? Why do I try to give them chores and responsibilities so that they will turn out to be decent human beings? Why do I read them a bedtime story at night, even when I'm exhausted? Why do I clean up after them constantly and cook for them and try to always have healthy snacks and food on hand? Why do I go to their sports games and practices, just to feel like the odd man out standing there awkwardly with their bio mom? Why do I give 100% of myself and make so many sacrifices for children I didn't birth? Only to be insulted and told hurtful things? To be made to feel like I'm
