Favorite MuscleTech Supplements & Workout Nutrition

A common question I receive is what you should eat before and after workouts. Well, the answer is, it's different depending on your goals, but I think most people would do well with a carb and protein source both before and after a workout. What I've found that works well for me is eating a carb source and whey protein a couple hours before my workout, and carb and whey protein immediately post workout, then a real meal a couple hours later.

To be more specific, with my goal being to build muscle and get stronger, here's what I have:
90 minutes to 2 hours pre-workout I have a scoop of protein powder with 1/2 cup oats and a spoonful of peanut butter. Intra-workout I drink a scoop of bcaas(Amino Build), and then post workout I have a high sugar, fast digesting carb source(about 30-40 grams) with a protein shake. Then about 2 hours later I have a "real" meal of protein, carbs, and fats-almost always eggs and potatoes. I've been doing this for 6-7 years now, and it works for me!

While we're on the subject of supplements, as you all know, I'm a MuscleTech athlete. After having been able to try out quite a few of their products in the last year, I thought I'd share some of my favorite products and flavors so far and how I use them.

Amino Build-
Amino Build has 8 grams of bcaas, which help fuel skeletal muscles, preserve muscle glycogen stores, and reduce protein breakdown. I drink a scoop of it during my workouts- it tastes great, and I also feel that it does give me more endurance in the gym. My favorite flavors are white grape and fruit punch.

NitroTech
NitroTech has 30 grams of protein, mostly from whey protein isolate, ultra-filtered whey protein concentrate and hydrolyzed whey protein isolate, with only 2 grams of carbs and 1.5 grams of fat. What makes it unique is that it also has 3 grams of creatine per scoop.  The cookies and cream is so good-one of my favorite proteins from MuscleTech. I love it mixed with almond milk for a yummy post workout shake.

Platinum 100% iso-whey
The Platinum Iso-whey protein is made with ultra-pure, cold-processed, micro-filtered whey protein isolates, the purest form of whey protein there is, and it has only 2 grams of carbs and .5 grams of fat. My favorite flavor is the chocolate peanut butter twist. It's really good by itself with almond milk but even better blended with a banana and some pb2!

Platinum 100% whey
This protein is a combination of whey protein isolate, whey concentrate and whey peptides. It has slightly higher carbs than the iso-whey, with 4 grams, and has only 1.5 grams of fat. I love the taste and texture, but my absolute favorite is having it in my oats every morning. It has the perfect, gooey, creamy consistency that I love for my morning protein oats!  I look forward to eating this because it's that good.

Phase 8
Phase8 is a sustained release protein made with 6 different milk derived proteins, which allows for amino acids to be released into the bloodstream for up to 8 hours. It's my favorite protein for "pudding", as it has the perfect consistency. It's great for my bedtime snack, especially mixed with peanut butter!

MuscleTech has so many great products, but I'm pretty simple when it comes to supplements-creatine, aminos, and whey protein is all I've ever used. I'm not big on pre-workouts or fat burners, but MuscleTech has some great ones. They also just recently came out with the Essential Series line, which includes fish oil, CLA, creatine, and beef protein, which I have yet to try!

  1. Love this post Lindsay! What would you have pre workout if you were working out first thing in the morning?

    1. Well, for me personally, I have to have something to eat before I workout, but if I had to train right away I would probably just have a protein shake to at least get something in my stomach.

  2. Hey!! You know Green supplements are made from herbal products and these are really best way to boost your immune system. You can also order these supplements through online, but you have to take care you are ordering from a genuine site to get genuine product.

  3. You don't need to take some supplements every day, just when you plan to work out. The one I took were a little on the expensive side, but that epistane container lasted me about 3 months.

Putting My Heart Out There

Hey guys. Here's where we're at right now: Matt finished his radiation treatments last week. Did they help? I don't know. He's sleeping a lot more. Having trouble chewing and swallowing. Not eating much. Not talking much, at least not in full sentences. It's just been a slow, steady decline for the last few months. I think it was really too late for radiation....But who knows, maybe it is delaying things. We went in last Tuesday for his infusion and talked with his neuro-oncologist about everything that we've been seeing with Matt, and he decided that we're at the point now where we should discontinue treatments...I feel like it's the right decision, even though it breaks my heart knowing that there is nothing else we can do. But I feel like we've done everything. All the supplements, the diet, the chemo, the radiation... Matt has fought hard. He never gave up hope. He kept the faith. He never complained through any of this. Not once did I hea
People always said That time would heal the pain But how can that be When mine still remains? The tears still fall At just the thought of you So I know that what they say Just can't be true As the years go by I miss you so much still  No matter how much time passes I know I always will How are you not here To ease my hurting heart? Never could I have imagined We would ever be apart My world has been shattered A piece of me is gone And all I can do is pray For strength to live on I know that one day soon I will see you again I just have to try to suffer through And make it until then

Why?

Why? Why do I care so much?  Why do I make sure they brush their teeth at night so that they don't get cavities? Why do I spend my own money to buy them clothes, toys and decorate their rooms, among other things?  Why do I do 5,000 loads of laundry a week to make sure they have clothes to wear to school? Why do I make sure they go to church on Sundays so that they'll be raised to know about Jesus? Why do I try to give them chores and responsibilities so that they will turn out to be decent human beings? Why do I read them a bedtime story at night, even when I'm exhausted? Why do I clean up after them constantly and cook for them and try to always have healthy snacks and food on hand? Why do I go to their sports games and practices, just to feel like the odd man out standing there awkwardly with their bio mom? Why do I give 100% of myself and make so many sacrifices for children I didn't birth? Only to be insulted and told hurtful things? To be made to feel like I'm
