HAPPY FRIIIDAAAY!

Here are  a few of my favorite things from the week!

I was suuuuuper excited when I got MuscleTech's new vanilla birthday cake NitroTech. I opened it to smell it first thing, and I new at first sniff that it was gonna be good. And I was not disappointed!

I am loving this light swiss cheese spread right now! It's delicious on my Trader Joe's sprouted wheat bread.

I also had it on my post workout pumpkin toast this week, topped with a banana. SO good. I love bananas so much!

Spent some time in my favorite spot this week. I can't tell you how happy I am to have some sunshine and warmer weather to enjoy being outside.

So after leg day this week I decided to try Chick-fil-a's "ice dream" cone, and it was deeeLISH. It's been so long since I've had a cone after a workout, but it will definitely be happening more often. At only 160 calories, and 28 grams of carbs, you can't beat it for a post workout treat.

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite articles that I've read lately:

  1. Oooh, I've been wanting to ask you if you taste any difference between MuscleTech Platinum Whey (Vanilla Cake) and the new birthday cake one?? I really like the Vanilla Cake - but is the other one something BETTER??

    Thanks! ~Jen

    1. Well, I actually didn't like the Vanilla Cake Platinum whey! The birthday cake NitroTech tastes totally different to me, but I like it way better. That's just my preference though!

  2. That birthday cake whey looks AMAZING - I need to get me some!!

I love your philosophy on lifting and diet btw, being more relaxed and not getting caught up with numbers. If you had weight to cut though, how would you go about it? I'm bad for trying to drop weight and possibly undereating, so I end up overeating some point in the week and ruining any progress I have made!

    1. I don't see myself ever cutting lol. BUT if I did for whatever reason, I think I'd track macros for a while and just slowly lower calories. So I'd make sure to still eat enough and not restrict any food group so as not to feel deprived, but just make sure that I'm in a slight calorie deficit. Also would keep more of my food and carbs around my workout.

  3. Ha Yeah, I was talking completely hypothetically - you do not need to cu!! As a ball park figure, for someone who walks ~1 hour a day and lifts 4 days a week, does 1800 calories sound good for a cut?

Thanks for the advice Lindsay :) Keep up the great blogging!!

    1. I really can't give a number because it's so different for everyone and also depends on how much you're currently taking in. I'd start by just cutting back 100-200 calories a day.
      And thanks! :)

Putting My Heart Out There

Hey guys. Here's where we're at right now: Matt finished his radiation treatments last week. Did they help? I don't know. He's sleeping a lot more. Having trouble chewing and swallowing. Not eating much. Not talking much, at least not in full sentences. It's just been a slow, steady decline for the last few months. I think it was really too late for radiation....But who knows, maybe it is delaying things. We went in last Tuesday for his infusion and talked with his neuro-oncologist about everything that we've been seeing with Matt, and he decided that we're at the point now where we should discontinue treatments...I feel like it's the right decision, even though it breaks my heart knowing that there is nothing else we can do. But I feel like we've done everything. All the supplements, the diet, the chemo, the radiation... Matt has fought hard. He never gave up hope. He kept the faith. He never complained through any of this. Not once did I hea
People always said That time would heal the pain But how can that be When mine still remains? The tears still fall At just the thought of you So I know that what they say Just can't be true As the years go by I miss you so much still  No matter how much time passes I know I always will How are you not here To ease my hurting heart? Never could I have imagined We would ever be apart My world has been shattered A piece of me is gone And all I can do is pray For strength to live on I know that one day soon I will see you again I just have to try to suffer through And make it until then

One Year...

One year ago today... the day it all changed. It was a Tuesday. I got the call from Matt around 3:00. I remember I was sitting at the computer at home. Matt told me that he was at the hospital, and that Bob Scott, his boss, had driven him there. Then he said those 4 words I never expected to hear: “The tumor came back.”  My heart stopped. Matt had gone in that morning for an MRI, as he has done numerous times in the past 10 years. He was now at the point where he had an MRI just yearly now, and that one was done in February, which showed that everything was fine. There was no sign of tumor growth, which had been the case for the last 10 years, praise God. But because Matt had been having some seizure activity for the last few months, they suggested he go in for another MRI in July. We then decided we should move up the appointment, because he had been having a headache every day for the past week. Good thing we did.... After I hung up with Matt,  I immediately broke down. I
