Words of Wisdom From Pauline

Most everyone in the fitness world knows the infamous Pauline Nordin. One of the reasons I love her is that she knows her stuff and is not afraid to tell it like it is! Here I've put together a collection of quotes from her Fighter Diet facebook page:

"The trick to an amazing physique is not doing everything right for a day. It's doing everything right day after day after day after day."
"To achieve a great physique you cannot train, train and under eat. Under eating is catabolic for both fat cells and muscle cells, so when you go on a too low calorie diet while hitting it hard your stamina will suffer, your muscles will not grow. The key is to let it take time. You need to fuel your workouts but not over fuel which leads to fat gain. The more your muscles grow the leaner you'll become when you're following a leaning out diet plan, but not extremely low. You do not speed up the process by cutting too low and you cannot expect muscle gain by over doing cardio. Balance is required."

"Never listen to people who tell you you cannot do it or you don't have what it takes. Doesn't matter if they're wrong or right, the fact is they don't know. The only way you AND they will know the real verdict is for you to go all out, put your heart, your mind, your soul and your killer suit on every day, day in and day out, relentlessly fight for what you want. Allow no fear to stop you, feel it, acknowledge it but never let it run your life or make your decisions. This will determine the outcome. And you are the single one with the power to give in, fail or conquer."

"I actually think it would be beneficial to take out all the cardio equipment from Golds so all the chicks have to face it and do some real badass work."

"Gaining muscle is like a game of chess. You can not rush the outcome by taking shortcuts. You need to execute multiple steps to conquer the game. You must choose one critical move after another to lead you to the goal. You will not win if you try to nail the king at first attempt when you've got tons of moves before you're in a position you can do so and succeed. Patience is a virtue. In the pursuit of muscle gain as well."
"Losing weight is "easy". You stop eating carbs, cut your calories ultra low and then run for a few hours a day. Repeat daily. Soon you'll be skinny fat. When you want to lose fat and get LEAN as in 'tight or not jiggling and firm' you need to eat well to build muscle and let fat loss happen little by little."

"Gaining muscle is a result of working on it diet, training and recovery wise consistently for a long period of time."

"A well built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it. No money can buy it. You cannot inherit it. You cannot steal it. You cannot borrow it. You cannot hold on to it without constant work. It shows dedication. It shows discipline. It shows self respect. It shows dignity. It shows patience. Work ethic. Passion."

"When you feel unmotivated to work out...: Think about everyone else who's at the gym working on perfecting their bodies and you're not there...And imagine how great dinner will taste when you've depleted your muscles with working out..And remember how you'll wake up tomorrow one step closer to your goal when you decide to go work out... Imagine that you'll find your soul mate at the gym RIGHT THIS DAY... Assure you that every great choice you make about fitness will reward you... Acknowledge that it takes hard work, you're a hard worker, aren't you? Remember that it's laziness which is holding you back. The couch is not your oasis. You feel out of shape? Staying at home is not the solution! Come on! You can do this! You can get yourself to stick with it! It will pay off! Mega time! Why let your dream body be just a dream when you can GET IT by working for it!"
